A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life
Welcome, and thank you for visiting. My name is Louise and I am a counsellor providing face to face therapy in Shrewsbury, within easy reach of Telford and Oswestry.
Welcome and thank you for visiting
I'm Louise and prior to training as a counsellor I worked for many years supporting people in areas such as mental health and housing support. From supporting people in these roles, my interest in counselling developed and led me to train as a counsellor. I've also had counselling myself which I found helpful in overcoming some personal challenges. I qualified with a CPCAB diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2020. I have also undertaken additional training in approaches to counselling young people, CBT and trauma- informed practise. also counselling for bereavement. I am a Registered Member of the BACP and hold my own insurance. I also hold a current DBS certificate.
As a counsellor my role is to provide space and support to explore whatever has brought you to counselling. I am a person centred therapist which means I have an empathetic, non judgemental approach and will be guided by what you want to talk about, at your pace. I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day to day life. I take an exploratory approach, which hopefully leads to fresh perspectives , empowering you to find the answers you hold within yourself.
Counselling takes place in a safe space in comfortable rooms in the centre of Shrewsbury. I aim to listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence. I work with adults and young people over the age of 14. I am also able to provide telephone or online counselling if this is more suitable for your needs.
Trouble with a relationship; anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression - many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling gives us a set of tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.
Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.
People come to me for help a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:
Feelings of stress or anxiety
Panic attacks
Relationship problems
Grief, loss or bereavement
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
Abuse
Depression
Problems with confidence or self-esteem
Anger management
Issues relating to sexuality
Difficulties at work or in retirement
Problems with family or school life
Sessions last for 50 minutes and are £40 per session. I do offer a discounted rate of £30 for student counsellors in training, also if you feel counselling would be helpful but are struggling financially, please contact me to discuss.
I offer a free initial telephone consultation session if you want to have a chat to see if I'm the right counsellor for you, please email me to arrange. Payment for sessions can be cash or bank transfer and I require 24 hours notice for cancellation of sessions.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange a free telephone consultation session. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
